Three Days Grace

(Halifax, NS) – evenko presents Three Days Grace with special guests Nothing More and Fozzy at Casino New Brunswick in Moncton, Nov. 21 and at the Cunard Centre in Halifax, Nov. 23. Both shows are for all ages.

Three Days Grace, the internationally acclaimed and multi-platinum certified Canadian band with over a billion streams on Spotify, released their new album, Outsider, earlier this year on Music For Nations.

Outsider is the sixth full-length album from the band, and is their latest since 2015’s chart-topping album, Human. “To me, Outsider represents the journey to find your place,” says bass player Brad Walst. “The world feels crazy at times. We try to get away from that every once in a while. We do our own thing, and we’re comfortable doing it. We have always looked forward—and not backwards. That’s an ongoing theme.”

The Mountain also earned the band their 13th #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart – tying with the legendary Van Halen who reached this record in 1998.

Outsider feels right at home alongside a catalog of fan favorites from Three Days Grace. Since 2003, the band has staked a spot amongst the hard rock vanguard, breaking records, toppling charts, and moving millions of units worldwide. With their current single “The Mountain,” the band made chart history yet again by besting their previous all-time record for “most #1 singles at US Active Rock Radio ever” now with their 14th number #1. In 2015, Humanmarked the group’s second straight #1 slot on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart as well as their fourth consecutive debut in Top 20 of the Top 200. It spawned two #1 singles “Painkiller” and “I Am Machine,” signaling their 13th overall and 5th consecutive number ones on the Active US Rock Radio chart. Moreover, the four-piece consistently averaged a staggering 3.9 million monthly listeners on Spotify – remaining one of the most listened to rock bands in the world.

In 2012, Transit of Venus soared to the Top 5 of the Top 200 and garnered a nod for “Best Rock Album of the Year” at the Juno Awards. The seminal One-X [2006] notched an RIAA triple-platinum certification as Three Days Grace [2003] was minted platinum and Life Starts Now went gold. To date, their veritable arsenal of number one includes “Chalk Outline,” “The High Road,” “Misery Loves My Company,” “World So Cold,” “Good Life,” “Break,” “Never Too Late,” “Animal I Have Become,” “Pain,” “Just Like You,” and “Home.”

ABOUT JOHN MELLENCAMP

John Mellencamp’s career in music, spanning more than 35 years, has seen him transition from pop star to one of the most highly respected singer/songwriters of a generation. Mellencamp is incredibly acclaimed; he is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a Grammy winner, a recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, ASCAP Foundation’s Champion Award, The Woody Guthrie Award and Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award and more recently, the Founders Award, the top honor assigned by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. Additionally, he will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 14, 2018. He is also one of the most successful live concert performers in the world. In 1985, Mellencamp, together with Willie Nelson and Neil Young, created Farm Aid. The social activism reflected in his songs helped catalyze Farm Aid, the concert series and organization that has addressed the struggle of American family farmers for more than 25 years.

John Mellencamp’s album, Sad Clowns & Hillbillies, featuring Carlene Carter, is his 23rd over the course of a remarkable career. Sad Clowns & Hillbillies returns Mellencamp to the musical eclecticism that is, itself, a reflection of his wide-ranging musings on life and showcases a poet who has wisely used the years between youth and the present day to become an absolute master of songwriting and interpretation. That passion and experience resonates most beautifully in this showcase of his music.

John also wrote the title song for the film, The Yellow Birds, an American war film directed by Alexandre Moors and based on the novel The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers. The film stars Tye Sheridan, Jack Huston, Alden Ehrenreich, Jennifer Aniston, and Toni Collette. A theatrical release of this movie will debut June 15, 2018. As well, John journeyed into the darkness of coal mining life in his reverent cover of Merle Travis’ 1946 song “Dark as a Dungeon,” recorded in support of National Geographic’s acclaimed documentary about the mining industry, “From The Ashes,” produced by Michael Bloomberg, former NYC Mayor.

John continues to focus on another facet of his artistic expression: painting. His style has progressed over the years as evidenced by several gallery shows and published portfolios, and in recent years he has increased his output by completing over 100 new works. Currently John’s second solo exhibition at the ACA Gallery titled “Life, Death, Love, and Freedom” opened on April 26, 2018 running through June 2, 2018.

Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, a musical/play with music and lyrics by John Mellencamp, a libretto by author Stephen King and production by T Bone Burnett will travel to various colleges and regional/local theaters in 2018.

Mellencamp continues his journey as the walking embodiment of heartland rock; passionate, plain-spoken, and a self-proclaimed rebel. John Mellencamp continues to live and work in Bloomington, Indiana.

Doors open at 7 pm. and it is an all-ages show.

Hailed as one of the “most important bands in music since the dawn of the rock and roll era” by former President Bill Clinton, the legendary rock and roll band with horns, Chicago, came in at #9, the highest charting American band in Billboard Magazine’s Hot 200 All-Time Top Artists. And Chicago is the first American rock band to chart Top 40 albums in six consecutive decades.

Chicago was inducted into the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!  This was their first nomination. They’ve been eligible since 1994. A long time coming!

Chicago’s first album, Chicago Transit Authority, was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2014, and the band performed on the Grammy stage for the first time that year.

Robert Lamm and James Pankow have become the latest inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017. These legendary songwriters wrote mega-hits such as, “25 or 6 to 4,” “Saturday In The Park,” “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day,” “Make Me Smile,” and many others.

More than 40 years after its debut, Chicago II still sounds like nothing else. Released in 1970, Chicago’s second album brims with confidence and inspiration as it draws on everything from orchestral music to heavy rock. It spawned a trio of Top Ten hits, and the timeless classic has been remastered to reveal unprecedented clarity and definition. For the first time a new stereo remix, created by British musician and producer Steven Wilsonfrom the 16-track multi-track tapes, made it possible to bring out elements that were muffled or submerged in the mix. The result is a new stereo version of CHICAGO II that boasts clearness, punch and definition that it didn’t have before.  It has recently been released by Rhino Records on CD and vinyl.

This year CHICAGO is planning a show unlike any other that they’ve done before. Chicago will perform their historic album, Chicago IIin its entirety as the first set of the concert. While some artists have performed an entire record as their complete show, for Chicago, this will only be the first set before intermission. Chicago II, like the band’s first release, is a double album, and contains the hits “25 Or 6 To 4,” “Make Me Smile,” “Wake Up Sunshine” and “Colour My World,” the #1 song for weddings and proms for more than 40 years.  Chicago IIis being considered for the Grammy Hall Of Fame. The second set will be the “world’s longest encore,” as the band jokingly refers to it, filled with their greatest hits. This concert will be the band’s longest show ever.

Also this year, two of the most successful and critically acclaimed rock bands: Chicago and REO Speedwagon – who have sold 140 million records combined – recently announced a co-headline North American summer tour kicking off June 13, 2018 in Concord, CA. The 30+ date tour, promoted by Live Nation, will take the multi-platinum selling groups through major cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Toronto, Atlanta and Nashville for a night of unforgettable live music. The tour will conclude August 12 in Detroit, MI.

CHICAGO’s award-winning documentary film, Now More Than Ever: The History Of Chicago premiered on CNN on New Year’s Day and ranked No. 1 among adults 25-54.  This is per “Nielsen Fast National Time Period Based Data” for 1/1/17 from 8 PM -10 PM. The documentary film was originally shown at the Sedona International Film Festival in February, 2016, and won the Film Festival’s Best of Fest Audience Choice Award.  The band opened the festival with back-to-back sold-out performances.

Additionally, Now More Than Ever: The History of Chicago won three awards in April, 2016, at the 10th Annual Fort Myers Beach Film Festival, taking home top prizes in the Documentary and Audience Award categories. Director Peter Pardini was awarded the festival’s Rising Star Award in direction and was on hand to accept all three awards.
Earlier that month the documentary was the runner-up for Audience Award at the Sarasota Film Festival.

Chicago’s newest record of new studio tracks, “NOW”CHICAGO XXXVI,  was released on Frontiers Records. It includes eleven brand new songs, recorded on the road. Chicago has built a new recording system that is flexible, portable, powerful and musical. This new “recording rig” travels with the band.  They have even created an online collaboration portal that allows even more performances to be worked on around the clock from remote locations. The CD package is a six-panel digipack with a beautiful 16-page full color lyric booklet.

Chicago’s lifetime achievements include two Grammy Awards, multiple American Music Awards, Founding Artists of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a Chicago street dedicated in their honor, and keys to and proclamations from an impressive list of US cities. Record sales top the 100,000,000 mark, and include 21 Top 10 singles, 5 consecutive Number One albums, 11 Number One singles and 5 Gold singles. An incredible 25 of their 36 albums have been certified platinum, and the band has a total of 47 gold and platinum awards.

Chicago have toured every year since the beginning – they’ve never missed a year.  The original four band members are Robert Lamm on keyboards and vocals, Lee Loughnane on trumpet and vocals, James Pankow on trombone and Walt Parazaider on woodwinds. The band line-up also includes Wally Reyes, Jr. on drums, Keith Howland on guitar and vocals, Lou Pardini on keyboards and vocals, Ray Herrmann on sax and flute, Neil Donell on vocals, Brett Simons on bass and Danny Reyes on percussion.

For five years, Chicago raised over a quarter of a million dollars to fight breast cancer for the American Cancer Society by having a winning bidder come on stage and sing “If You Leave Me Now” in concert.  Chicago generously support other charitable causes, donating a portion of ticket sales to Kelly Cares, established by Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and his wife Paqui, to support local, national and global organizations that strive to improve their communities in the areas of health and education.  Portions of ticket sales also benefit the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation, which seeks a cure for a fatal children’s disease, Niemann-Pick Type C. Chicago manager Peter Schivarelli, who played football for Coach Parseghian, is on Notre Dame’s Board Of Directors for their Athletic Commission.  Chicago has also associated with Hannah & Friends, an organization that serves children and adults with special needs. Hannah & Friends is the personal mission of Maura Weis and her husband, Charlie Weis, the former coach at the University of Kansas.

From the signature sound of the Chicago horns, their iconic Vocalists, and a few dozen of ever-Classic Songs, this band’s concerts are celebrations.  2018 marks the band’s 51st consecutive year of touring, without missing a single concert date!

Chicago continue to be true ambassadors for their beloved hometown, carrying the city’s name with pride and dignity around the world.

Nancy Wilson of Heart

August 15 – Rebecca Cohn Auditorium – Halifax
The show starts at 8:00 pm
Tickets on sale Friday, April 27 at noon at Dalhousie Arts Centre Box Office $49.50 – 64.50

Nancy Wilson is celebrated as one of the seminal musicians in the history of Rock n’ Roll. A guitar virtuoso from the age of 10, Nancy, and her sister Ann, led the multi-platinum rock group, Heart. Together they have gone on to sell 35 million records.

Wilson is revered as an ingenious guitar player and a gifted vocalist. As a songwriter, she has co-written a collection of indelible songs that have earned their way into the classic rock canon including, “Magic Man,” “Crazy on You,” “Barracuda,” and “Straight On.”

During an era when females in rock n’ roll were scarce, Wilson helped carve out a place for women to front a band and dominate a rock stage. Her icon status was cemented when Heart was inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. That same year, she and her sister received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Wilson sisters celebrated another career milestone in 2013 when they performed Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven” at the Kennedy Center Honors. Their note-perfect performance was met with rowdy cheers and a standing ovation in the staid hall and brought members of Led Zeppelin to tears.

ZZ TOP this August in Saint John & Summerside

(Halifax, NS) – evenko and Live Nation present ZZ TOP at Harbour Station in Saint John on August 13 and at the Credit Union Place in Summerside on August 14. Both shows start at 8 p.m.

The legendary rockers announced new dates to The Tonnage Tour. After the acclaimed and successful tour in 2014, the band is ready to come back to Eastern Canada and is more than ready to play at Harbour Station and Credit Union Place.

ZZ TOP lay undisputed claim to being the longest running major rock band with original personnel intact and, in 2004, the Texas trio was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Of course, there are only three of them – Billy F Gibbons, Dusty Hill, Frank Beard — but it’s still a remarkable achievement that they’re still very much together after almost 50 years of rock, blues, and boogie on the road and in the studio.  “Yeah,” says Billy, guitarist extraordinaire, “we’re the same three guys, bashing out the same three chords.”  With the release of each of their albums the band has explored new ground in terms of both their sonic approach and the material they’ve recorded. ZZ TOP is the same but always changing.

ZZ TOP’s career retrospective The Very Baddest surfaced in 2014. It spans the entire course of their London, Warner Bros. and RCA years. Listeners can follow the evolution of the band’s sound from the early 70s into the 00s on either a 40-track double CD or a 20-track single CD. That same year Eagle Rock Entertainment released Live at Montreux 2013 on both Blu-ray and DVD formats, showcasing their live act, leaving no doubt as to why they have been such a huge concert draw for the last several decades. When it comes to the live experience, they’ve still got it. 2016 saw the release of ZZ TOP’s Live! Greatest Hits From Around The World album on Suretone, consisting of 15 songs recorded live in 13 cities across three continents.

ZZ TOP’s music is always instantly recognizable, eminently powerful, profoundly soulful and 100% Texas American in derivation.  The band’s support for the blues is unwavering both as interpreters of the music and preservers of its legacy. They have sold millions of records over the course of their career, have been officially designated as Heroes of The State of Texas, have been referenced in countless cartoons and sitcoms and are true rock icons but, against all odds, they’re really just doing what they’ve always done.  They’re real and they’re surreal and they’re ZZ TOP.

(Halifax, NS) – evenko presents Joe Jackson at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in Halifax on Saturday, July 14 and at the Capitol Theatre in Moncton on Sunday, July 15. Both shows start at 7:30 p.m.

Legendary songwriter Joe Jackson has confirmed a 2018 summer tour visiting cities across the U.S. and Canada, adding one more “encore” to his long-running Fast Forward Tour. These new dates follow four acclaimed tours over the last two years.

Supporting Jackson once again will be long-time collaborator, Graham Maby on bass, along with guitarist Teddy Kumpel (Rickie Lee Jones, Feist) and drummer Doug Yowell (Suzanne Vega, Ari Hest).

The tour includes several cities where Jackson hasn’t been in years and several he’s nevervisited before. His set will once again feature songs from across Jackson’s entire catalogue, including a mix of songs from his earliest albums as well as 2015’s critically acclaimed Fast Forward. Jackson will also offer an unpredictable selection of covers and brand new, never before performed originals.

“Fast Forward combines the beauty and intelligence of his best earlier work with a new quality: warmth, generosity, possibly even contentment.” – The New Yorker

“…a set that perfectly balanced his masterful touch on a piano ballad with his ability to rock out.” – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

“Jackson’s loose arrangements left room for occasional lilting improv, and highlighted that his voice remains a marvel: pristine and soulful, and edged with vibrato and falsetto.”
Cleveland Scene
