(Halifax, NS) – evenko and Live Nation present international star Daniel O’Donnell live in Atlantic Canada, Sept. 24-28. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and showtime is 7:30 p.m.

Daniel O’Donnell has announced that he will be returning to tour across Canada in September this year. The tour will see the record breaking chart singer blaze a trail from Victoria & Vancouver (BC) in the West, right across all the provinces to Halifax (NS) & St. John’s (NL) in the East (an impressive run of tour dates that takes in 10 out of 10 of the Canadian Provinces).

Commenting on the tour announcement, O’Donnell said “I’m really excited about this tour, it will take us to quite a few cities in Canada which we have not performed in before, as well as to some of our old favourites, offering us an opportunity to meet both new & familiar faces. I love meeting and performing for the fans, it is one of my greatest pleasures in life.  I’m so very thankful for them, as they are the ones who make these shows happen.”

“We introduced some new musicians and some different instruments when we went back touring earlier last year and I am delighted to say that they have been a great success, fans everywhere have complimented them on their great talent as musicians and have really welcomed them on board.  We will be interested to hear what Canadian audiences think of the new line up and show.  We hope they love it as much as audiences elsewhere have proved to.”

O’Donnell burst into superstardom in the USA & Canada back in 2002 with his first ever PBS special – The Daniel O’Donnell Show. That began a special relationship between O’Donnell and PBS and since then, he has recorded a further thirteen specials, with ‘Back Home Again’ being his fourteenth one in 2016. This fantastic selection of 32 / 37 songs is presented on this 2 CD / 37-track DVD set recorded and filmed in Ireland, on this new US TV Special. The concert also features O’Donnell’s long-term singing partner, Mary Duff.

O’Donnell’s previous PBS release was ‘Stand beside Me’ which is a concert celebration of Irish, country, gospel, rock, movie and long-time Daniel O’Donnell favourites. The title ‘Stand Beside Me’ is not only a popular song among concert goers, but also reflects his belief that fans, throughout his more than 15 years on PBS, have brought him to where he is today, standing beside him making his career a success and he will be forever grateful to them.

The Irish singer made record-breaking chart history earlier this year by becoming the first recording artist in the history of the UK Artist Album Chart to have charted at least one new album every year since 1988, an unprecedented and unbroken 30 year span, surpassing everyone from Michael Jackson, the Rolling Stones, Madonna and Irish strongholds U2. Along with this, O’Donnell makes regular appearances in the Billboard World Music Chart.

In total, O’Donnell has now reached the UK Artist Albums Chart with more than 37 albums and has now amassed THIRTY ONE Top 30 albums over the course of his career. Over his long and continuingly successful career he has received many accolades including an honorary MBE from Queen Elizabeth, an appearance on Top of the Pops, his life celebrated on This Is Your Life and multiple Entertainer of the Year/Person of the Year Awards in Ireland and the UK to add to his record breaking chart appearances.

• Daniel O’Donnell has spent more than 300 weeks in the UK Albums chart.
• Daniel O’Donnell has sold more than 4 MILLION units in the UK this millennium

BRIAN WILSON PRESENTS PET SOUNDS: THE FINAL PERFORMANCES

brianwilson(Halifax, NS) – With one of the most in-demand concert outings the last year, music legend Brian Wilson is once again extending the final performance run of his critically-acclaimed Pet Sounds 50TH Anniversary World Tour, celebrating the iconic Pet Sounds album for a final time. He will perform with special guests Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Tickets range from $99 to $144.50 (including tax and service fee) and will be available this Friday, May 12 at 10 a.m. at the Ticket Atlantic box office, all participating Atlantic Superstores, by phone at (902) 451-1221 and online at ticketatlantic.com and sonicconcerts.com. Additional fees may apply. Doors open at 7 p.m.

“We are blown away by the reception of this tour, it’s unbelievable how many people love this album,” says Wilson.  “The audiences have been so fantastic and we are honored to play for them.  We never expected this reaction so we will continue to perform this album for people as long as they ask us to!”

“This tour is really unprecedented, I can’t think of an album that garners so much respect that fans all over the world a year later are still asking for more shows,” says APA’s Bruce Solar. “The interest hasn’t slowed down and Brian during this time in his life is finding so much joy in these performances. It’s really inspiring.”

Last year alone found Wilson and his band, joined by former bandmates Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin, performing 99 shows to captivated audiences in sold-out venues all over the world.  Garnering critical acclaim and marking a true return to form, Wilson continues to deliver a live performance of Pet Sounds in its entirety, as well as top hits and fan favorites spanning his 54-year career with The Beach Boys and as a solo artist.  Universally hailed as a writer of one of the greatest American songbooks, Pet Sounds has reigned atop countless critic and fan polls, and has maintained its timeless rank as one of popular music’s most-cited influences.

In 1965, with The Beach Boys out on tour, Wilson began session work on some of the most deeply personal recordings of his career. Inspired by The Beatles Rubber Soul, he challenged himself to create an immaculate musical masterpiece. A vast departure from the then band’s commercial sound, the resulting Pet Sounds “concept album” achieved great critical success helping usher in a new musical landscape.

Wilson began his career as a teenaged founding member of The Beach Boys, who signed with Capitol Records in July 1962 and released their first album, Surfin’ Safari, that same year.  The band’s initial surf-rock focus was soon broadened to include other themes. Wilson’s innovative vocal and instrumental arrangements for major hits including “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “God Only Knows,” and the No. 1 smash “Good Vibrations” established The Beach Boys as America’s preeminent band of the 1960s.

Wilson has also achieved great success as a solo artist with 11 of his own albums released to-date, including his acclaimed 2004 completion of an album he first began recording in the ‘60s, Brian Wilson Presents… SMiLE.  The album earned Wilson his first GRAMMY® for a recording, which was followed by his second GRAMMY® win for producing The Beach Boys’ acclaimed 2011 release, The SMiLE Sessions.  With his own band, Wilson has performed major, sold-out tours in recent years, and with The Beach Boys he celebrated the iconic band’s 50th anniversary in 2012 with a major international tour and acclaimed studio album, That’s Why God Made The Radio.

In 2015, Wilson released his latest solo album No Pier Pressure (Capitol) and was the subject of the critically-acclaimed, award-winning biopic Love & Mercy (Roadside Attractions/Lionsgate).  Directed by Bill Pohlad and starring John Cusack, Paul Dano, Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti, Love & Mercy presents an unconventional portrait of the music legend. Set against the era-defining catalog of the music, the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the iconic performer whose success came at an extraordinary personal cost.  The culmination of these projects produced Wilson’s first Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song (Motion Picture) for “One Kind Of Love”, which was featured in the film.

Brian Wilson is a Kennedy Center Honors recipient, a Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, and a U.K. Music Hall of Fame inductee.  As a member of The Beach Boys, Wilson was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, and honored with The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.

Wilson will also perform at Casino New Brunswick in Moncton on Friday, Sept. 15. For information, visit: sonicconcerts.com.

MARTIN SEXTON AT ST. MATTHEW’S CHURCH IN HALIFAX, MAY 5

Martin Sext(Halifax, NS) – American singer-songwriter, Martin Sexton, extends his tour in support of his ninth studio release, Mixtape of the Open Road, and will perform at St. Matthew’s Church in Halifax on Friday, May 5 at 8 p.m.
Mixtape of the Open Road, is a musical cross-country trip, blazing through all territories of style, as you cruise through time and place. This record is a charm bracelet of twelve gems all strung together with the golden thread of what Rolling Stone calls a “soul marinated voice.”

“The real thing, people.” – Billboard

“Outstanding taste in songwriting as well as a soul-marinated voice.” – Rolling Stone

A native of Syracuse, N.Y., and the tenth of 12 children, Sexton grew up in the ’80s and eventually migrated to Boston, where he began to build a following singing on the streets of Harvard Square. His 1992 collection of self-produced demo recordings, In the Journey, was recorded on an old 8-track in a friend’s attic and sold 20,000 copies out of his guitar case.

Happily and fiercely independent, Sexton launched his own label, KTR, in 2002. Since then he has infiltrated many musical worlds, performing at concerts ranging from pop (collaborating with John Mayer) to the Jam scene to classic rock (collaborating with Peter Frampton); from the Newport Folk Fest to Bonnaroo to New Orleans Jazz Fest to a performance at Carnegie Hall. His songs have appeared in television series such as “Scrubs,” “Parenthood,” and “Masters of Sex” as well as numerous films, though it’s his incendiary live show, honest lyrics, and vocal prowess that keep fans coming back for more.

Tickets are $34.99 in advance and $39.99 day of show (include tax and service charge) and will be available Friday, March 10 at 10 a.m. at the etixnow kiosks in the Halifax Forum and Music Nova Scotia and online at sonicconcerts.com. Additional fees may apply. Doors open at 7 p.m.
