Halifax Seaport BeerFest: Atlantic Canada’s largest beer festival
is back for its 9th year in Halifax, August 7 & 8

Tickets on sale this Friday, June 12 at 10am!

(Halifax, NS) – Halifax Seaport BeerFest: Atlantic Canada’s largest beer festival and one of Canada’s most popular beer festivals returns for its 9th annual “Beer on the Pier”. The event will take place at the Cunard Centre on Halifax’s Waterfront, Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8.

Up from last year, this year’s festival will showcase nearly 300 craft beers, imports, seasonals and ciders, representing 18 countries, including Canada, Belgium, United States, England, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Czech Republic and Holland.

There will also be numerous award-winning breweries featured this year, including the team and beers from Ontario’s Great Lakes Brewery, 2013 & 2014 Canadian Brewery of the Year. As well, look for individual pavilions with over 150 unique beers and ciders from Maine, Ontario, Quebec and Ireland.

“Nearly 60% of the showcased products are not available at the NSLC so this is your chance to try them,” said Brian Titus, festival co-founder. “We’re also expanding the popular Cask Beer Pavilion with even more local cask beers and sampling a wide range of gluten-free beers and ciders.”

Local Maritime beer continues to be featured prominently. Festival attendees can sample beers from breweries like Rogues Roost, Garrison and Tatamagouche as well as newcomer, Good Robot Brewing.

Attendees have three sessions to choose from during the weekend. The first session is Friday evening from 7 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., the second is Saturday afternoon from 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., and the final is Saturday evening from 7 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. All three sessions will offer a special VIP option. A limited number of festival-goers will enjoy a panel discussion and exclusive beer tasting with special guests and visiting brewers’ plus early access to the festival floor.

This year’s special guests are Gráinne Walsh and Tim Barber of Metalman Brewing in Waterford, Ireland. In 2011, Walsh abandoned a career in the I.T. Industry to try her hand at brewing beer for a living. Having spent her time bouncing from one big-company job to the next but never really settling, she took the plunge and made herself a new home in the beer industry by setting up Metalman Brewing in the city of Waterford. The brewery now makes over 15 different beers and is the only microbrewery in Ireland to have a canning line on site. Walsh is aided and abetted in these beery endeavours by her long time partner, Barber and five awesome staff. For more information on Metalman Brewing, visit: metalmanbrewing.com. Walsh will lead the VIP session Saturday afternoon with an all-star panel of women in the industry.

The Halifax Seaport BeerFest is also pleased to present local live entertainment during each session. DJ Stilldrunk returns to spin tracks on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon features acoustic duo, Tyler Key & Trevor Conrad and Saturday evening will feature DJ Mathematix.

Local food vendors will be on hand offering mouth-watering and beer-friendly cuisine, including the Waterfront Warehouse Restaurant & Oyster Bar, Stubborn Goat Gastropub and Bramoso Gourmet Pizzeria. All food items are priced at $5 or less with gluten-free options available.
